Dave grew up in Greater Victoria and obtained a BA from UVIC in 1975 in psychology and history. After this he became an accredited real estate appraiser and worked 13 years with Canada Mortgage and Housing as a staff appraiser. Following this Dave worked as an analyst with BC Buildings Corporation and then managed the pricing department which was responsible for setting market rental rates for provincial government facilities across the province; economic analysis, cost-benefit studies and involvement with project teams. Since 2006 Dave has been involved in the private sector as a contractor doing lease negotiations for right of ways and telecom facilities.
Dave’s awareness of SICCT began in the early 1980’s when a friend received life changing counselling from Bob Vaughn, the society’s founder. Dave served two terms on the Board of Directors from 1994 to 2000. SICCT continues to fill a vital role in support of community mental health and no person in need is turned away.
Dave is an active member of Friendship Community Church. He is involved as a volunteer in support of organized sports groups and most days find him cycling or playing tennis or pickleball.
