Is a Practicum Counsellor right for you?
We believe cost should not be a barrier to accessing counselling. Our $35 counselling program helps make counselling more affordable while also supporting the professional development of master’s-level counselling students who are completing their clinical practicum.
Our supervised practicum counsellors provide counselling for many common concerns, including anxiety and stress, depression, grief and loss, relationship concerns, life transitions, self-esteem, burnout and emotional regulation. They may also support clients with some trauma-related concerns when appropriate.

Some services require an RCC rather than a practicum counsellor, including:
• EMDR therapy (link to EMDR Form)
South Island Counselling does not provide:
• Specialized addiction or substance-use treatment
• Crisis or emergency mental-health services
About diagnosis and assessment
South Island Counselling provides counselling services. We do not provide psychological assessment or mental-health diagnoses at any of our fee levels. If you are seeking a formal diagnosis or psychological assessment, you will need to contact an appropriately qualified health-care provider such as a doctor, psychologist or psychiatrist.
If you’re unsure which application is right for you, please don’t hesitate to contact us —we’re happy to help guide you.
